With their Evolution kickstart shield, Polini has created a perfect solution to reduce play and friction in the gearbox. Where there is usually no support bearing, Polini has fitted a support bearing to the primary gear shaft. This of course means that you avoid slack in the axle, but at the same time get a more stable gearbox. In addition, ventilation has been incorporated from the variator down to the coupling, in the shield. This helps to keep the temperature down on the variator and thereby ensure an optimal operating temperature.

Why is it important to cool the transmission?

The increased ventilation cools your variator, V-belt, clutch and clutch bowl by passing in through the shield and then pulls the heat out which keeps the operating temperature down so that you do not lose power on these components, even after hours of operation. When we talk about racing, it is super important to ensure optimal conditions for its engine so that it performs optimally all the time every time you turn the throttle. This can easily be one of those margins that can mean the difference between first and second place, and where would you rather stand on the podium?
