Description
Motul DOT 3 4 brake fluid
Keep your braking system in top shape with Motul DOT 3 4, a fully synthetic brake fluid that ensures reliable and stable brakes in everyday life as well as during hard driving.
This fluid is designed to withstand high temperatures, so you avoid brake failure when the going gets tough. It also protects against rust and deposits so your brakes last longer.
Suitable for scooters, cars and motorcycles where the manufacturer recommends DOT 3, DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 (non-silicone) fluid. Motul DOT 3 4 is compatible with all brake systems that require DOT 3, DOT 4 or DOT 5.1 (non-silicone) fluid and can therefore be mixed with these types of brake fluid.
Specifications:
- 100% synthetic, polyglycol based
- Yellow color
- Dry boiling point: 245°C / 473°F
- Wet boiling point: 160°C / 320°F
- Viscosity at -40°C (-40°F): 1350 mm²/s
- Viscosity at 100°C (212°F): 2.3 mm²/s
Things to consider when choosing brake fluid
- DOT classification: Always check what your vehicle manufacturer recommends (DOT 3, DOT 4, DOT 5.1 (non-silicone) or DOT 5 (silicone-based))
- Boiling point: The higher the boiling point, the better the fluid resists heat and reduces the risk of brake loss (vapour lock).
- Compatibility: DOT 3, 4 and 5.1 (non-silicone) can be mixed, but DOT 5 (silicone) must not be mixed with the others.
- Driving needs: Sports driving often requires fluid with an extra high boiling point, while DOT 3/4 is typically fine for general daily driving.
- Water absorption: Brake fluid is hygroscopic (absorbs water over time), which lowers the boiling point. Therefore, it should be changed regularly (typically every 2 years).
- Corrosion protection: A good fluid protects the metal parts of the brake system from rust and deposits.
- Container size and seal: Choose a quantity that suits your needs and avoid storing open bottles for too long as the fluid quickly absorbs moisture.
